VeryDarkMan explains why no Nigerian musician won the Grammy Award.

Well-known activist VeryDarkMan has investigated the reasons behind the Grammy Awards’ exclusion of all Nigerian artists with nominations.

Recall that Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr were the five Nigerian musicians who received Grammy Award nominations in 2024. None of them, though, won the prize.

VeryDarkMan responded by criticizing the Grammys, saying they are trying to keep Afrobeat from having total control over them.

To support his claims, VeryDarkMan asserted that the Shakti album “This Moment,” which was awarded the Best Global Music Album, has not received one million views on YouTube in total.

In addition, he stated that until yesterday, he was unaware of Tyla’s identity and that Ayra Starr, who he believed to be the song’s singer, had promoted the song.

According to VeryDarkMan, many Nigerian performers were nominated in an attempt to spice up the awards ceremony.

“I am sure Davido himself knows Tyla will earn that award because Water was a smash internationally and us Africans dey hear Unavailable,” Eyitayo tweeted, adding, “I don’t know about the album own but you see that tyla own na only mumu go say them rob Davido there.”

Make every man genuinely abandon Bangt Sha, Mheracle stated. I’d say Burna Boy, or Davido, deserves this honor. 🤌 Fash bants

“How would you rob someone that has nothing? Meaningless lyrics and five remixes of a single song?” inquired Levilee. Describe unavailability and the reasons it deserves a Grammy. 🙄
