As his Liverpool contract draws to a close, Virgil van Dijk claims there is “no deadline” in relation to his contract status.
The Netherlands international will be free to talk with foreign clubs starting on January 1st, when his current contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
It is understood, meanwhile, that the 33-year-old would rather remain at Anfield.
“There isn’t even a deadline. The future will be revealed to us. Is there any new information? “No,” he informed the media.
Along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk is one of three important players whose contracts are nearing the end of their remaining six months.
Salah’s two goals in Sunday’s 6-3 thumping of Tottenham put him fourth on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, with 229 goals.
This season, the Egypt international has scored 18 goals, 15 of which have come in the Premier League, and provided 15 assists.
Salah made his Liverpool debut in 2017–18, scoring 44 goals across all competitions.
With the team leading the Premier League by four points, Van Dijk hopes the 32-year-old forward can have his best season yet.
“The numbers speak for themselves,” he said.
He is a really unique athlete, He has performed admirably for the team, and it is his desire that he will have his finest season ever, continue to be crucial with his goals and assists, and remain clinical.
