Three lost their lives in the Ibadan fire incident tragedy

Three family members—a husband, his wife, and their grandson—were killed in a terrible fire incident in the Ori-Eru neighborhood of Idikan, Ibadan, early on Friday morning.

The town was left in sadness after the destructive fire consumed the top story of a residential structure.

At 3:46 a.m., a homeowner named Hassan called the fire department in distress, according to Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency. After being sent to the scene very away, firefighters were able to put out the fire.

When we arrived, the top floor of a six-story residential building was completely alighted. We moved quickly to put out the fire, and it was totally put out,” Akinyinka stated.

Sadly, the three family members lost their lives in the fire, but five others survived. According to investigations, the family had tried to stay warm by using a bare flame, which is probably what started the fire after they went to sleep.

In order to avert additional damage, the building’s ground level and adjacent homes were saved from the catastrophe.

To keep the peace and support rescue attempts, security officers were on the site, including a police team from Mapo Division under CSP Olaniyan Jibola and an Amotekun team from the North West Division under Mr. Gbenga Akinyemi.
