The reason Wizkid is more respected than Burna Boy and Davido is revealed by Tunde Ednut.

Wizkid is more well-liked in the African music scene than Burna Boy and Davido, according to Tunde Ednut.

Afrobeat musician Wizkid is said to be more appreciated across Africa than any other Nigerian singer in a video uploaded by blogger Tunde Ednut. This is because he helped to change how African artists are regarded at the BET International Awards.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, Tunde described how African performers received their plaques and prizes backstage at the BET prizes prior to 2018.

The video brought back memories of Wizkid, who won the 2017 BET Award but declined to attend, claiming the ceremony was encouraging false affection for African musicians.

Wizkid asserts that if the BET Awards are unable to treat African artists with the same respect as they do international artists, then they ought to cease honoring them.

The significance of Wizkid’s remarks was demonstrated when Davido, the 2018 BET Award winner, was invited to the main event and given his reward.

“Beyond his musical prowess, one of the main reasons Wizkid commands respect across Africa is his pivotal role in improving the treatment of African artists at the BET Awards,” the voiceover for the video stated.

Before 2018, African performers would frequently accept their awards backstage or in front of a vacant crowd several hours prior to the main event.

Wizkid won BET Best International Act in 2017, but he declined to go to the ceremony. In addition to calling out BET and voicing his displeasure in an interview, he declined to attend.

“You show your worldwide artist, and if you’re not going to show us the same love on the main stage, then don’t show us no love till we choose not to.”

The influence was evident when Davido received the award the following year, which was given to him in front of a live audience during the main show.

Since then, African artists have received the same recognition at the BET Awards as their American counterparts.

“RESPECT!!!! ✊🏽,” stated Tunde Ednut in the video’s caption.
