Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has explained why, despite studying law in college, she does not practice law.
The actor recently admitted to BBC Yorùbá that she attended the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to study law in order to appease her late father.
Akindele said that her late father always wanted her to become a lawyer, even though she had a strong love for acting, singing, and dancing.
She claimed that in the end, she pursued her legal education at her father’s request before going back to acting.
“I never regretted studying law because it reflected in my works,” the actress declared.
Indeed, I attended the University of Lagos to study law. My father wished for me to practice law. “You will become a lawyer,” he would often remark when he was alive. All I wanted was to perform on stage. She said, “I wanted to dance and sing.”
“All right, let me look at this law and provide it to you,” I would say. I’ll return to performing after studying this law.
