Leicester City defeated West Ham 3-1 at the King Power Stadium to mark the historic start of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League managing tenure.
The Dutchman, who became the first manager to lose to a side twice in a season before later managing them in the same campaign, had a fantastic debut thanks to goals from Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, and Bilal El Khannouss.
Unusual records are nothing new to Premier League legend Van Nistelrooy.
When he was a striker for Manchester United, he scored ten goals in a row, which was later broken in 2016 by Jamie Vardy of Leicester.
The two are now collaborating to move the Foxes up the league standings.
The appointment of Van Nistelrooy follows a fruitful period as Manchester United’s temporary manager after Erik ten Hag was fired in October.
He won three of his four games as manager, including two versus Leicester and a draw with Chelsea.
Van Nistelrooy’s transfer to Leicester was made possible by Ruben Amorim taking over the position, despite his stated wish to stay at Old Trafford.
