In a recent statement, well-known Nigerian artist BNXN, formerly known as Buju, explained why he chose Burna Boy over Wizkid and Davido.
Recently, BNXN and his colleague Ruger published a joint album called “RnB,” which translates to “Ruger and BNXN.” As a result, BNXN agreed to an interview with Billboard News.
However, vocalist Ruger lavished praise on Grammy Award winner Burna Boy during the interview for using his skill as a stage performer to put Afrobeat on the map.
Ruger claims that before Burna Boy popularized live banding, the majority of African artists would only perform live on stage with their DJs.
Ruger countered that Burna Boy’s use of about thirty musicians and their instruments—as well as their emphasis on the sweetness of live music—is what he claims makes Afrobeats entertaining.
He mentioned that Wizkid and Davido are two other leaders that many musicians have chosen to follow in their footsteps.
“Most afrobeats artists would just go with the DJ and simply perform before Burna Boy started doing live shows,” adds Ruger. “Davido is a leader, and many others follow his footsteps similar. Wizkid is also a leader, so just choose who you wanna follow.”
Ruger gives the main three artists a lot of respect, but according to BNXN, choosing Burna Boy over Wizkid and Davido was simpler.
According to BNXN, they called Burna Boy “He’s him” in American slang. Burna Boy is indeed him because of his flawless on-stage persona, which never fails to elevate the genuine Afrobeats sound to a global level.

Even when some of your favorite artists performed 02 Arena gigs in the last few years, it was DJ run back tract 2.
