According to a widely shared TikTok video, Abuja police officers harassed citizens for not giving them money they said was intended for Christmas festivities.
According to the footage, locals refused to give the officers the money they asked for, claiming they were unable to pay.
The officers allegedly reacted violently to this and were observed attacking individuals.
In the video, a young guy showed injuries he said were caused during the altercation, while a woman said one of the cops had beaten her.
“Help us, Abuja,” was the caption posted by the TikTok user who posted the video. They began shooting weapons when we told them we didn’t have the Christmas money they requested.
Online, the incident has caused indignation, with many people demanding that the alleged misbehavior be looked into.
