The PGMOL fired Premier League referee David Coote after he sent damning communications and recordings.
After video of the 42-year-old making derogatory comments about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp appeared online, he was first suspended.
Coote’s disparaging remarks against Klopp sparked a lot of outrage.
When other films surfaced, one of which purportedly showed him taking a white substance during the Euro 2024 qualifiers, outrage erupted.
Coote was accused of making jokes about giving a yellow card during a Leeds United vs. West Bromwich Albion game, among other match-related events.
Additionally, he allegedly talked of throwing a “drugs party” at a Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City Carabao Cup game.
“David Coote’s conduct were determined to be in significant breach of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable,” PGMOL said in confirming Coote’s firing.
PGMOL underlined its dedication to promoting Coote’s welfare in spite of the dismissal, including his ability to appeal the ruling.
But Coote, who has overseen 112 Premier League games since 2018, has denied claims that he compromised the integrity of the games.
He maintains that his personal problems have never affected his choices at work.
