Patience Ozokwo, a seasoned Nollywood actress, is ecstatic to have been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Theatre and Media Arts.
Legendary Yoruba filmmakers Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko were also honored with the award, which was given by the UK’s Achievers Networks Academy, for their exceptional achievements to Nigeria’s entertainment sector.
Celebrities, family members, friends, and dignitaries attended the ceremony, which took place on Saturday at the University of Lagos, Akoka’s Aderinokun Lecture Theatre.
The honorees were praised for playing crucial parts in making Nollywood a worldwide sensation. Iconic performances, coaching up-and-coming artists, and using cinema to promote African culture are all part of their lasting legacy.
Patience Ozokwo, affectionately referred to as “Mama G,” posted videos from the event on Instagram to show off her enthusiasm. She wrote that the experience was surreal:
“Today felt like a film.”
