One person is killed and others injured in an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge.

A fatal accident on the mainland bridge has claimed the life of one person and left four others injured.

Gistreel reports that the accident, which involved a J5 Ford bus and a Mercedes truck, at Ilubirin, inward Sura, along the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge, occured in Monday morning.

In a statement confirming the crash, Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, said that rescue activities were initiated by LASTMA authorities, who were led by General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki.

A sad incident involving a J5 Ford bus (FKJ 724 YC) and a Mercedes truck (FKJ 746 YC) at Ilubirin, inside Sura, along the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge, has been confirmed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

Five people were impacted by the event, which happened earlier today and resulted in one death.

“LASTMA officials quickly came on the scene and led the rescue efforts, led by Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager. Three of the four victims were saved alive after being pulled from the wreckage with the help of worried onlookers.

Sadly, one person who was confined inside the J5 Ford bus carrying pepper and other perishable items passed away from wounds received in the collision, he said.

Additionally, he revealed that the survivors of the tragedy have been sent to Lagos Island’s General Hospital for prompt medical care.
