NNPCL: Port Harcourt Refinery is fully operating and loading is still going on.

The ancient Port Harcourt Refinery, which produces 60,000 barrels per day (bpd), is still fully functioning, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL.

After several years of renovation, the Port Harcourt Refinery reopened in November 2024, increasing domestic supply.

Meanwhile, according to certain media sources, the refinery’s activities have ceased, leaving tanker trucks stranded.

Olufemi O. Soneye, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, refuted the report, stating that loading is still in progress.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has taken notice of claims in several media outlets that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, has been shut down, Soneye said in his statement.

We would like to make it clear that these accusations are completely untrue, as former NNPC Group Managing Directors confirmed a few days ago that the refinery is fully operating. The loading operation for the day is presently being prepared.
