“My Parents Rejected Me”: Actress Jumoke George Talks About Her Childhood Years

Jumoke George, a Nigerian actress, talked candidly about her challenging upbringing. She described her mother rejecting her, her stepmother taking her to a herbalist, her husband abusing her often, and her irate father disowning her.

Jumoke talked about how her stepmother mistreated her and took her to herbalists for charms to control her father in an interview with Biola Bayo on the Talk to B show. She was made to perform horrible tasks, such as preparing food that had charms put to it, and she felt like a slave.

She wrote….

“My stepmother was even worse. From a tender age, I was sent to a herbalist’s house. It’s a pity and it saddens my heart that I am even the one that will prepare the food that the charm will be added to for my dad. You can’t even handle a slave the way they handled me. Today, I just put an end to that kind of job I am always sent”.

The actress revealed that she failed when she tried to face her fetish stepmother. Her father disbelieved her and expelled her after she eventually told him. George Jumoke clarified:

He declared, ‘From henceforth, I disowned you,’ when I begged him to let me speak. He then went into his room, and the next thing I saw was him brandishing his revolver.

I got into trouble right then and there. My biggest life mistake was crying because I wanted to accompany my dad when he was transferred.

“It wasn’t until four or five years ago that I knew what I did to offend my mother.

But then, she pleaded with me that I should forgive her, that she didn’t have Christ, and it was a time of ignorance, and she was feeling hurt then,”

the dark-skinned actress explained, adding that she had a falling out with her mother because she had chosen to live with her father rather than her mother.

Fortunately, they were able to patch things up a few years ago.

I was dozing off; I even dozed off on the roadside table where they sold stuff. I’ll sleep in an abandoned car if I see one. I then secured my bras with a safety pin. I held my pants with twine ropes.

The seasoned actress discussed her failed marriage, detailing the cruel treatment she received from her ex-husband, particularly physical assault during her pregnancy. George Jumoke added:

He will always hit me, thus my relationship with him was like going from bad to worse when I became pregnant. It reached a point where he would meet me at the filming stage and beat me until we both fell from the ceiling.
