A young Nigerian man tells the story of how he had to break up with his fiancée after she made nasty remarks about him not being able to afford to buy her a wig.
IamEkene_, a social media user, used the microblogging site X to share the story of his previous relationship with his ex-fiancee.
The young man claimed that although his fiancée had begged him to get her a certain wig, he was unable to do so because of financial limitations.
But his fiancée released a statement that effectively ended their relationship by pressuring him into purchasing the wig.

I informed her that I didn’t currently have the necessary resources.
She gave me a sour face and threatened to punish me by God if I continued to “maltreat” her by refusing her requests.
At that point, I got out of bed, had my bed and go to work.
I pondered during the entire day.
When I looked ten years ahead, I saw no scenario in which I would have a loving wife or be really content if I didn’t keep renewing my subscription with her.
I had to give her up permanently. We had prepared ourselves well to spend a lifetime together, so it was a very deliberate choice, but I also understood that if I sealed the deal, that lifetime would be terrible.
I learned a lot in 2023, and I would much prefer be a single parent or remain single than put up with foolishness.
