The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has detained two lovers for allegedly planning their kidnapping.
Early morning, it was reported that Beltus Ebong and Imaobong Sampson, the lovers, were taken into detention.
The state’s police public relations officer, Odiko Macedon, made a statement stating that they were apprehended in Mbierebe Obio village, Ibesikpo Asutan. The document also revealed that the lovers had asked their families for a ransom.
Members of the command’s Anti-abduction Squad pursued the suspects to their retreat, according to Macdon, after learning about the kidnapping case in the area.
According to the claims the command had heard, the accused kidnappers were asking Imaobong’s family for N4 million, he said.
In order to find the abductors and save the victim, members of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad launched a thorough, intelligence-driven investigation.
He declared, “The aforementioned alleged victim, Imaobong Sampson ‘M,’ and her boyfriend, Beltus Ebong ‘M,’ were taken into custody at their hiding place in Mbierebe Obio Village, Ibesikpo Asutan L.G.A.”
