Gospel singer Judikay has announced her decision to withdraw from the ongoing financial dispute with her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, emphasizing her commitment to the unity of the Christian community over personal grievances. This development comes after a series of events that have unfolded since the conclusion of her contract with the label.
Judikay’s contract with EeZee Conceptz concluded in February 2024. Following the contract’s termination, she reportedly discovered significant financial discrepancies and requested an audit of her financial transactions—a request that was met with resistance from the label. Efforts to resolve the issue through legal channels were unsuccessful, as the label’s legal representatives contended that she was not entitled to an audit, a stance Judikay claimed contradicted their agreement. Further attempts to gain clarity through auditors were disregarded, with the label acknowledging receipt of formal correspondence but failing to provide any substantive response.
In a series of social media posts, Judikay expressed the personal toll the dispute had taken on her life, including distress over her family being subjected to public ridicule and the name of Jesus being embroiled in the controversy. This burden significantly influenced her decision to withdraw from the ongoing legal and public disputes. She emphasized that her identity as a member of the body of Christ holds greater significance than any quest for justice. In her Instagram post, she stated:
“I have made the deliberate decision to walk away from this entire drama and I choose to prioritize the greater good and unity of the body of Christ. My role as a member of the body of Christ takes precedence, and I willingly make this sacrifice, drawing strength from the knowledge that Christ is of far greater worth than any earthly possession or vindication.”
The dispute between Judikay, fellow gospel artist Mercy Chinwo, and EeZee Conceptz has garnered significant public interest, with allegations and counter-allegations regarding financial impropriety, contractual breaches, and ownership of the artists’ music catalogues. Renowned talent manager and founder of Now Muzik Group, Efe Omorogbe, weighed in on the situation, emphasizing the importance of respecting contractual agreements and resolving disputes through transparency and professionalism. He stated that master rights are typically owned by the label under standard industry agreements and that if an artist wants to acquire these rights, they must follow proper procedures, including conducting a valuation of the catalogue, making an offer to the label, and negotiating a fair agreement. He stressed that forcing a label to relinquish master rights is not in line with global industry practices.
Apostle Anselm Madubuko also attempted to mediate in the dispute but reported that EeZee Conceptz sabotaged peaceful resolution efforts with both Mercy Chinwo and Judikay.
Judikay’s decision to withdraw from the dispute underscores her commitment to the unity of the Christian community and her desire to move forward without further conflict. She conveyed her appreciation to her family, the gospel music community, and her supporters for their unwavering prayers and encouragement during this challenging period.
