The late Afrobeat artist Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, voiced his displeasure with the police inquiries.
Joseph asserted this in an exclusive interview with Trust TV on Wednesday, calling on the government to intensify its probe in order to ensure that justice is served.
September 12, 2023 was Mohbad’s death date. He was interred the following day. The owner of his former record company, Marlian Records, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and a few other individuals, including Sam Larry, were charged with his death.
However, in a message published to his Instagram account, the head of Marlian Records denied any wrongdoing. Sam Larry also denied any knowledge of it.
In an interview with Trust TV on Wednesday, Mohbad’s father voiced his displeasure with the police probe.
“I don’t think the police investigation is satisfactory. Many incorrect statements have been made outside. I thought they would follow me to search Mohbad’s residence or give me the police (autopsy) report, but they hadn’t provided it to me when I delivered his body to the police station. I am not satisfied in those areas,” he stated.
The father asked the authorities to include everyone who were living with Mohbad, saying he wanted the inquiry to be comprehensive.
“They ought to enquire of them. They would be able to determine what killed Mohbad by looking through their phones. Several others shared his residence. For this reason, I am not happy with the investigation.
“Justice is still something we seek for.Denied may come from a delay. He continued, “I am pleading with the government to exert more effort so that things can proceed smoothly as people anticipate.
