Superstar Davido of Nigeria talks about how his father’s religious teachings have helped him get through the hardest times in life.
Davido discussed his Christian upbringing and the impact of his father, a prosperous businessman and church elder, in a Rollingout podcast interview.
The famous musician attributed his ability to overcome obstacles in both his personal and professional life to his father’s religious beliefs.
According to him, “My dad is an elder in the church, but he’s quite successful.” I was raised in the Seventh-day Adventist faith. I went to a Christian university.
My dad helped me overcome many obstacles. Although I didn’t understand at first, I’ve since realized. I was upset. At times, I wondered, “Why do nice people get awful things?” My father also informed me that you cannot doubt God.
“What do you mean you can’t question God?” I said. And then we had twins, my biggest album came out, and I received my first Grammy nominations a year later [after my son Ifeanyi passed away]. After that, it began to make sense. “Remember that God has your back, even though everyone faces various obstacles,” he continued.
