A young Nigerian man’s desire of getting married to his Benue lover has been dashed by the revelation from his girlfriend’s family of a huge N1.2 million marriage list.
On January 5, 2024, Udam Samuel Aseer, the man’s buddy, posted the tragic tale on Facebook.
Udam Samuel claims that his friend’s intentions to marry were derailed because the in-laws demanded a hefty N1.2 million marriage list, more than double the N600,000 planned budget.
Social media users have responded to the disclosure in a variety of ways, with many expressing shock and dismay at the groom’s excessive demands.
The prospective groom, whose name is being withheld, had carefully saved and prepared for his marriage to his fiancée, but he ran into an unforeseen obstacle.
The bride’s family is said to have provided a comprehensive marriage list that comprised numerous gifts, rituals, and monetary contributions, amounting to a substantial N1.2 million.
In a Facebook post, Udam Samuel Aseer expressed sympathy for his friend’s situation and mentioned how the young man had worked hard to realize his ambition of getting married to his sweetheart.
