An explosion strikes a Borno community, kills two people.

An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on Wednesday, killing two persons.

The sad occurrence occurred at a 200-unit housing development under construction in Dalwa.

According to reports, the explosion occurred at approximately 1:00 PM, which is when Governor Babagana Zulum and his Yobe State counterpart, Mai Mala Buni, were commissioning housing estates in Maiduguri.

Although specifics are yet unknown, a source told Channels Television that a similar incident happened on Tuesday.

One of the numerous communities that Boko Haram extremists have destroyed and uprooted is Dalwa, which is 175 kilometers from Maiduguri. Governor Zulum started the construction of 200 homes in the region as part of the restoration operations.

In Zamfara State, there were two explosions in the Dansadau District of the Maru Local Government Area last Friday, according to sources. This is the third explosive attack in the area in as many weeks.

There were no reported casualties despite the explosions on the Dansadau-Malamawa and Malele highways.

On Wednesday morning, a bomb exploded on a bridge in Yar Tasha hamlet, killing twelve people. Last Sunday, an 18-seater bus detonated another bomb, killing the driver. Residents also related more horrific events.

Because of these frequent occurrences, residents in Zamfara State are increasingly concerned about insecurity, believing that bandits are intentionally using explosives placed alongside important routes to cause terror and impede traffic.
