As Manchester City had their worst run in 20 years, Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he has no pity for Pep Guardiola.
Recall that the Reds trounced City 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday, moving Guardiola’s team down to fifth place and increasing their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points.
The previous time City went seven games without a victory was in 2004.
This includes four straight league losses, which is an undesirable record for Guardiola as a manager.
Additionally, they drew to Feyenoord 3-3 in the Champions League after City wasted a three-goal lead.
Slot rejected the notion of sympathy for the Spaniard despite City’s difficulties, citing his distinguished record.
“Pep has won a lot of awards. During his press conference after the game, Slot stated, “He has demonstrated time and time again why the league is not determined in November or December.”
Slot underlined his faith in Guardiola’s ability to turn things around by highlighting City’s turnaround from the previous season, when they overcome an eight-point deficit in February to win the championship.
“Maybe for other managers, but not for Pep,” he continued, “no one needs to feel pity or [feel] sorry for Pep.”
Liverpool is a serious contender for the trophy after Slot led them to 11 victories in 13 league games this season.
