After declaring his respect for Zlatan Ibrahimović and Cristiano Ronaldo, Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres has heightened transfer rumors with Manchester United.
With 25 goals in 22 games this season, the Swedish forward has been in incredible form. However, the 25-year-old is apparently uneasy about Sporting’s slump since head coach Ruben Amorim moved to Old Trafford.
In an interview with UEFA, Gyökeres discussed his football idols and mentioned his wish to imitate two of the game’s greatest forwards.
“Zlatan Ibrahimović and Cristiano Ronaldo are the players who inspire me,” he stated.
Beyond expectations, they went above and beyond. On the field, I hope to perform similar actions. My physicality, finishing, and frequently being in the correct position to score are my top three attributes.
At Manchester United, Ronaldo and Ibrahimović made lasting impressions.
Ronaldo scored 145 goals in 346 games over two stints, while Ibrahimović scored 28 goals in his debut season to lead United to a League Cup and Europa League double.
The Red Devils are said to be the favorites to recruit Gyökeres now that Amorim is coaching United, particularly given Sporting’s managerial troubles and patchy play.
