After announcing that he had decided to give up on his academic goals owing to a series of disappointments, a young Nigerian student was given the opportunity to study in Russia on a scholarship that would change his life.
The student, identified as @_joshuals on X (previously Twitter), had gone to the platform to express his despair after failing to get university admission.
The driven student, who wanted to become a doctor, claims that despite doing well on his JAMB exams for three years in a row, he has failed three times.
He wrote in a sincere post….
“Wait what? 1yr of sleepless nights in vain? Tell me it’s a dream.😭😭😭😭😭. First JAMB, 2022 – Was denied admission.😔 Missed 2023 registration while waiting for admission. Spent another 1yr home reading.😭 2024 – Had 304. No admission again.😭 My dream to become a doctor in the mud.😔 God knows I fought a good fight, will have to move on w/out school.😔”
Users on the platform showed empathy and support for the message as it swiftly went viral. Amidst the deluge of support, a kind offer surfaced.
“Hi, would you be interested in studying at Saint Petersburg State University on a full tuition scholarship? My young sister is studying medicine at the same university. Send me a DM if this interests you so I can help,” a user said.
