The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed a shocking story about how one of the church’s pastors overseas was detained for allegedly using discriminating language.
He revealed this at the RCCG’s national headquarters in Lagos, the Throne of Grace, where the church has its monthly Thanksgiving ceremony.
The preacher was arrested, according to Pastor Adeboye, after introducing a group of people with the term “ladies and gentlemen,” which some guests found offensive due to the exclusion of people who do not identify as male or female.
“The end is closer than you might imagine. This is a wake-up call because things are getting worse. For merely referring to a group of people as “ladies and gentlemen,” one of my pastors overseas was imprisoned. “What about those who are not ladies or gentlemen?” he said when some people accused him of discrimination.
Another unsettling anecdote of a woman who called her dog her husband was also related by the preacher. He related how the woman said, “I brought him to the vet before coming,” in response to a question concerning her husband. She calls her “spouse” a dog, saying, “He doesn’t talk.”
Pastor Adeboye, who saw these events as portents of the end times, voiced his profound concern about the decline of moral standards in the world.
“Take this issue seriously, those of you who are already followers of Christ. Don’t allow anyone to undermine your position. God is sacred. Remember that Jesus is returning if you’re still playing church, singing, clapping, and having fun without any real commitment. The devil is trying to harvest you, but you must not allow him to. I’d like to see you at my dad’s place.
