Abuja police banned Christmas celebrations with fireworks and knockouts.

Amid the upcoming Christmas celebrations in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has banned the use of knockouts and firecrackers.

The prohibition is intended to protect everyone’s safety, according to Olatunji Disu, the FCT Commissioner of Police.

The step aims to protect people and property throughout the holiday season, according to a statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

Disu emphasized the serious risks these things offer by pointing out that they can unnecessarily cause worry and concern in the society.

The use of firecrackers, often known as knockouts, during the impending Christmas and New Year’s festivities is discouraged by the FCT Police Command. This prohibition is in place to protect lives and property throughout the holiday season and to guarantee the safety of all locals.

“The community may experience needless fear and worry as a result of the use of these things. They also pose serious concerns, such as the possibility of fire and other avoidable mishaps.

“Violators will face arrest and legal action, including those who sell or use explosives and firecrackers. Residents and community leaders are urged to spread the word about the possible risks connected to these things,” he stated.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the holiday season.

In addition to wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year, he asked everyone to indulge in moderation.

Disu also urged citizens of the Federal Capital Territory to stay vigilant and notify the police right away of any suspicious activity.
