A young woman from Nigeria was chosen to teach Igbo language at Yale and Harvard Universities.

Amarachi Attamah, a Nigerian woman, has announced that she will be teaching Igbo language at Harvard and Yale, two esteemed American colleges.

Amarachi expressed her happiness at the possibility of teaching at Yale and Harvard colleges in the forthcoming spring semester on Facebook.

She claims that part of her job at Harvard University will be to support the Department of African and African American Studies’ African Languages Program (ALP).

Having effectively taught more than 45 African languages, Harvard’s ALP is regarded as one of the world’s biggest language programs.

Amarachi is expected to have an impact not only at Harvard but also at Yale University, where she teaches Igbo language in the Directed Independent Language Study (DILS) program, which is part of the Yale Center for Language Study.

According to her:

“I’m thrilled to announce the start of yet another amazing voyage. I’ll be teaching Igbo in the African Languages Program (ALP) at Harvard University’s Department of African and African American Studies starting in the spring. With more than forty-five African languages taught, Harvard’s ALP is among the biggest language programs in the world.

“At the Yale Center for Language Study at Yale University, I am also the Igbo instructor for the Directed Independent Language Study (DILS) program this spring. Igbo professor at two elite universities. MbAmarachi. Cheers!
