A boat carrying sixteen people overturned off the coast of Dunkirk, in northern France, resulting in the death of the girl. According to officials, the boat was too tiny for all of the passengers.
PARIS:
French authorities announced on Sunday that a young girl had perished in the capsize of her boat while attempting to cross the English Channel from France to Britain.
According to a statement from the northern prefecture of France, the boat carrying sixteen persons flipped over on Sunday morning off the coast of Dunkirk.
According to officials, the boat was too tiny for all of the passengers. There was a couple aboard the ship who had four kids.
The announcement stated that the couple’s 7-year-old daughter had drowned. According to the note, the girl’s mother and father—who was also pregnant—were saved and brought to a hospital along with the other three siblings.
According to the statement, six little children, two men, and another couple were also saved and sent to the hospital with minor wounds.
Three persons lost their lives on Wednesday while attempting to cross the English Channel from France.
About 180 persons received assistance in four rescue operations that France organized, according to a statement from the authorities in charge of the French waters in the canal.
British government estimates released early in 2024 indicated that about 30,000 migrants had succeeded in crossing in 2023.
