According to a community notice, VeryDarkMan’s claim that ₦180 million of ₦200 million in donations were stolen as a result of a hack into his non-profit website is untrue.
The note made it clear that no money would be stolen even in the event that the website was compromised.
The explanation was included in a brief statement that was posted with a video of VeryDarkMan making the hacking claim.
Following the alleged hack, the well-known internet personality, whose actual name is Martins Vincent Otse, had stated that ₦180 million had been taken from the contributions account.
His remarks provoked strong reactions; some public personalities flatly denied the accusations, while others conjectured that the money might have been diverted.
The community note on Twitter denied the accusations, however VeryDarkMan has not yet offered an update or proof to back up his claims.
It clarified that even if a website is hacked, money cannot be stolen from it.
The post read….
“The website of VDM (Martins Vincent Otse) NGO mvoi4all.com does not store or process payments, so hacking it (if this claim is true) WILL NOT cause any money to go missing from the Zenith Bank account (1313679008) where donations are received.”
“THIS CLAIM IS FALSE.”
