Ayeni Gbenga, 27, was placed under detention in an Ado-Ekiti correctional center on Tuesday by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
The defendant is on trial for rape; however, no address was provided.
Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecution, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime at Ado-Ekiti between October and December.
According to Oriyomi, the defendant defiled the girl who was the younger sister of his wife.
He claimed that the defendant would check in at a hotel with the victim whenever he took her to school, emphasizing that he had repeatedly defiled her.
He claims that the offense violates Section 265 of the Ekiti State, 2021, Criminal Law.
In order to obtain legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecution’s office, the prosecution petitioned the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility.
However, the defendant’s plea was not accepted.
The offender was ordered to be remanded in the detention facility until legal advice was obtained by Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun.
He then adjourned the case until January 27, 2025, so that it may be mentioned.
