Ayo Makun, a well-known comedian and filmmaker from Nigeria, has been frustrated by the lack of male support despite his commitment to his work.
On his X (formerly Twitter) account, AY bemoaned the fact that, despite their best efforts, males tend to favor women over guys.
He went on to say that guys in the entertainment sector struggle and work harder to remain relevant and fulfill their obligations.
He wrote…..
“One day, men go tell man ‘wetin man do man.’ We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we have breasts and yansh to have the support of our fellow men?”
The comedian, who is well-known for his comic shows and films that shatter records, added that he is the only male filmmaker in Nigeria who hasn’t left the business because of a lack of support.
He went on to highlight the difficulties male filmmakers encounter in maintaining their professions by saying, “I am still the only man left in the business of cinema who is yet to give it all up.”
Online discussions have been triggered by AY’s comments, and fans and coworkers have shared their opinions. While some have commended him for his tenacity and reliability in the entertainment sector, others have advised him to put his art first and disregard the lack of outside approval.
