Diego León, a 17-year-old Paraguayan star from Cerro Porteno, is almost ready to join Manchester United.
The agreement between Manchester United and Cerro Porteno of Paraguay is “nearly done,” according to Fabrizio Romano, with talks concentrating on the final details of the transfer money and contract terms.
The estimated $5 million transfer fee is accompanied by further bonuses that might greatly raise the deal’s overall value.
An important player in Manchester United’s transfer operations, Jason Wilcox, has been managing the last phases of this contract.
León is viewed by the Red Devils as a long-term investment because of his impressive results in the Paraguayan division.
The young athlete, who only made his professional debut this year, has already emerged as one of South America’s most watched young players. Several European clubs have taken notice of him due to his flexibility and physicality on the pitch.
But it appears that Manchester United has prevailed in the competition to sign him.
In accordance with FIFA’s rules governing the international transfer of minors, he will not be able to formally join the squad until July 2025, when he turns 18.
