William Troost-Ekong, a defender for the Super Eagles, has backed his countryman Ademola Lookman.
Troost-Ekong is hoping that the Atalanta star would take home the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year trophy.
Along with Rowen Williams, Achraf Hakimi, and Serhou Guirassy, Lookman is one of the last nominees for the award.
The 2024 CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16 will reveal the winner.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Troost-Ekong referred to Lookman as “the best player in Africa right now” and voiced confidence in his prospects.
Troost-Ekong declared, “I think he’s probably our best player and possibly the finest player in Africa.”
“He’s been terrific this season, and he was outstanding at AFCON.”
He also emphasized Lookman’s outstanding exploits, such as his incredible hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.
Troost-Ekong continued, “I would want him if I were any elite club right now.”
