After disclosing his plans to marry someone other than his six-year fiancée, a Nigerian man has ignited a contentious internet discussion.
The man admitted to marrying someone else in a letter shared with social media influencer @Folarin, even though he had been seeing his present partner for six years.
The man claimed that although he wanted to work things out with his long-term girlfriend, she eventually turned him off with her attitude.
A twist was added when he revealed that he intended to send her a wedding invitation on April 1, 2025, with a subtle hint that he believes she will interpret it as an April Fool’s joke.
“My wedding is scheduled for April 2025. And not to my six-year girlfriend. I’ve heard of people not getting married to their long-term girlfriends. And trust me, I made an effort to make it work. However, she constantly gave me the impression that she was helping me. I’ll send her an invitation on April 1st, and I hope she accepts,” he wrote.
Since then, the letter has gone viral, evoking a range of responses. Some expressed sympathy for his choice, noting that respect for one another is crucial in any relationship, while others chastised him for pursuing his girlfriend for years.
