Stores burned in the Ibadan market fire

A fire that started in the Moniya market in Oyo State’s Akinyele Local Government Area has destroyed 17 stores.

According to reports, the fire started at 12.30 am on Monday and is thought to have been started by a power surge.

Additionally, it damaged cash and other items valued at millions of naira.

Kolawole Balogun, the Babaloja of Moniya Garage, and Saliu Bello, the Chairman of the Garage, told reporters that a security officer had notified them of the fire at around 12.30 am.

The magnitude of the losses deeply troubled both.

“As soon as I received the call, I hurried to the market,” Balogun recalled. We lost things worth millions of naira. Even more destruction was avoided since the fire department arrived quickly.

“In addition to the goods, cash worth millions of naira was also destroyed. Many traders often store their money in their shops when they leave for the night.” They also urged the government to offer the victims immediate assistance, saying that it is a tragic event for anyone, particularly in light of the current unfavorable economic climate.
