Men and women in their 20s are advised by an online counselor to “focus on building themselves and leave marriage.”

An internet counselor from Ghana gives direct advice to individuals in their twenties, advising them to forego marriage and concentrate on personal growth.

She posted the video to her well followed Tiktok account, @untoldchronicleswithgene.

She told them that since they had their entire 30s ahead of them, they shouldn’t worry about getting married and starting a family at this age.

That is the age, in her opinion, to start earning money, getting to know oneself, dating, and accumulating life experiences.

According to the counselor, navigating your 30s gets easier once you’ve accumulated those experiences and sufficiently lived your life.

Following are a few responses from Netizens:

“Thank you, madam, this is the best advice I have ever come across,” praised @onlygh3.

As mentioned by @acheampongmaa20: “You seem mature. Shall I follow you? My mother frequently says that getting married young (at 24) was her biggest mistake.

“A person in their 20s or 30s will still marry the wrong person… in my perspective, age is not maturity,” said @Star-G. Marry when you’re emotionally, financially, and physically prepared.

“I intended to marry at 24 when I had just graduated from university,” @Evaluv7 continued.but my older brother declined. I chose to pick up some tech skills instead, and now that I’m 28, I don’t regret it.

“You guys saying this avoid that,” wrote @THE COUNSELOR. if both of you are purposeful about who you are and you’re in a healthy relationship. Together we build, nothing is off the road.
