Abdulfattah El-Okene, a Nigerian, has drawn attention with his desire to shatter the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous ironing of clothing.
Nevertheless, El-Okene abruptly called off his ambitious endeavor during the 142nd hour, following medical advice.
Motivated by the desire to beat the current record held by UK’s Gareth Sandars, who ironed nonstop for 100 hours in 2015, El-Okene embarked on the ironing marathon on January 10.
When a medical evaluation indicated worries regarding El-Okene’s health, the decision was made to call off the marathon.
The information’s source, Ibrahim Ochu Abdulrasheed, stated that El-Okene had taken a test and made the decision to quit right away after consulting with his medical team.
El-Okene was surprisingly not using the public power supply (PHCN) and was instead paying N34,000 a day to fuel a generator.
“He reached over 140 hours this morning, and his medical staff recommended him to stop. Medical professionals gave him a test this morning, and the results showed that he needs to stop. He worked quickly and efficiently. He stated, “Since he began on January 10th, he has been spending $34,000 on petrol every day and wasn’t reliant on PHCN.
El-Okene expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his travels in a statement that was uploaded on his X account.
Greetings, fellow citizens of Nigeria. I would like to inform everyone that I have decided to give up on my 200-hour ironing marathon quest for the Guinness World Records. I made this decision after surpassing 142 hours, citing medical grounds and reports from my health team. I’ve already broken Gareth Sanders’ 2015 record for the longest ironing marathon—a hundred hours—in the UK. The message said, “A sincere thank you to everyone for their unfailing support and encouragement along this journey.
