A woman from a Whatsapp group bemoaned her experience online when one of the people she had contributed to withdrew to Canada using the money she had given them.
In a series of tweets, the woman going by the handle Ego-Mbute said that she had joined a WhatsApp group in March 2023.
The administrator told them that the club was trying to gather money for their former classmate who is expecting her third kid and whose husband is unemployed.
According to Ego-Mbute, each member of the group made a contribution; the largest amount was N500,000, and the lowest was N50,000.
On January 1, 2024, Ego-Mbute was taken aback to see a Facebook post from their coursemate expressing gratitude for the eight months they had spent visiting relatives in Canada.
Ego-Mbute asked the group administrator for clarification right away. The administrator informed her that following receipt of the funds, the woman who had requested financial aid had blocked her.
