19 people passed away in Plateau Road Accident

Nineteen persons died and eleven others were injured in a sad accident that occurred over the weekend in the Kwana Maciji district of Plateau State’s Pankshin Local Government district.

The catastrophe occurred during a wedding ceremony.

John Dasar, the chairman of the emergency management committee for the Pankshin local government area, confirmed that the individuals had traveled from Kano State to attend a wedding in Barkin Ladi local government area. They were on their way home when an accident occurred, and while they were being assisted out of the damaged vehicle, it caught fire, burning the 19 people who had not yet been evacuated.

“The tragedy occurred on Saturday; the individuals were from Kano and had come to Barkin Ladi for a wedding ceremony,” They had to take the shorter path through Gindiri to Bauchi on their way home, the driver and a few others made it out alive, but 19 of them were severely burned when the car caught fire while the victims were being pulled out, trapping the dead, he stated..

The survivors were taken to Pankshin General Hospital, where they were visited on Sunday by the Head of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Pankshin Local Government Area, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Pankshin Division, the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Lengyang Tali, the Chairman of the Pankshin Local Government Area, Felix Gonung, accompanied by Dasar, and the Councillor Representing Wuchembe Ward, Simon Gerji.

Gonung made arrangements for the seriously wounded victims to be sent to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) so they could receive the appropriate medical attention. In order to prevent similar tragedies, the Chairman advised road users to exercise caution and follow safety regulations. Those who suffered minor injuries were treated and taken back to Kano State.

A bus carrying 30 people, including parents and children, was involved in the accident, according to citizen Maxwell Shiktong. The bus apparently experienced a brake failure, hit with a tree, and caught fire.

Nonetheless, the deceased were buried in accordance with Islamic law thanks to the arrangements made by the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) Pankshin Chapter.
